Creative Arts

Artist Concert Series Talented choirs and musicians perform at Good Shepherd several times during the year. Please join us for one of these outstanding concerts.

Knitting and Crocheting Group

The Knitting and Crocheting Group meets in the Education Building on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m.  Join us for fellowship and fun while you work on your personal projects.

You are also invited to knit or crochet newborn-sized sweaters, hats, booties, or afghans to donate to "Babies in Need."  The items will be assembled into layettes by a team at All Saints' Episcopal Church and given to the maternity ward at SW Washington Medical Center, where they will be distributed to needy newborns.

Quilting

Monday Quilt Group

Each Monday a group meets in the Youth Building from 9-12:00 to work on their own quilt projects or a shared project. Bring your basic sewing supplies, a sewing machine, and a project that you are trying to finish and plan on enjoying wonderful fellowship while working on your quilt project. First time quilters as well as experienced quilters are all welcome.

On the first and fifth Mondays the group works on “Prayer Quilts” for our Prayers and Squares Ministry. Even if you aren’t a quilter you can help by cutting out fabric or pinning the quilts. Questions, contact Bette Ludden or Toni Henderson .

Prayers and Squares Ministry Team

On the first and fifth Mondays of each month from 9:00-12:00 in the Youth Building quilters work on prayer quilts which will be given to members of the congregation who are in need of healing. Quilts are made ahead of time and when a specific need is known the quilt is tied on a Sunday morning by members of the congregation. Each person says a prayer for the recipient while they tie a knot in the quilt. Then when the quilt is given to the person they can wrap themselves in the prayers of healing that have been said especially for them. It is a wonderful ministry and means a great deal to the recipients. Whether you are a quilter or not, please join us. There are always jobs to do and a promise of great fellowship! If you know of someone in need of a prayer quilt or have questions about this ministry, contact Bette Ludden.

Mystery Quilt Class

On the fourth Saturday in January from 9:00-4:30, we have a mystery quilt class in our parish hall. Lawry Thorn, from the Stitchin Post in Sisters, Oregon, is our guest instructor and each year she brings us a wonderful day of quilting. We are told what fabric we need to bring but we don’t know what the quilt looks like until the end of the day. It is a day filled with great fellowship, wonderful food and 7 hours to quilt without interruption. You need to be able to sew but no quilting experience is necessary. Class is limited to 30 people so if you are interested you need to sign-up early. Registration forms are available December 26th.
