On the Sunday before Labor Day, August 31st, we will honor all of the many vocations we have in service to God and each other. After the offertory, you are invited to bring your “instruments of work or tools of trade” up to the altar to have them blessed. For example, you could bring a law book, a stethoscope, a lesson plan, some kind of work tool, or even a particular craft/hobby item. Child4ren and teens are invited to bring their school backpacks, musical instruments, sporting equipment, etc. to church for a special blessing. This new tradition asks for God’s blessing and focuses attention on the various vocations that God has given each and every one of us, especially as we remember and celebrate the annual Labor Day Holiday.
