We gather to share our gifts , love, and talents of quilting. It is a time of fellowship and a time when we not only work on personal projects but share in making the Prayer Quilts(Prayers and Squares). Payers and Squares is an interfaith ministry which combines the gift of a hand made quilt with the gift of prayer for someone who is seriously ill of facing a serious, life-threatening surgery. This ministry meets monthly on the second Monday morning of the month at which time the quilters work on the prayer quilts, either stitching them of sandwiching them with threads that members of the congregation tie with a prayer. Quilters gather on the other Mondays of the month to work on their own projects.
EFM is a four year curriculum that helps lay persons become theologically informed and strengthened in their ability to minister in the parish and the world. It is offered as an extension program through the University of the South, an Episcopal seminary in Sewanee, Tennessee. EFM offers in depth study of the Bible, church history and theology within a small group community of 8-12 students. Groups meet weekly with a trained mentor. In addition to the academic study, sessions provide opportunities for theological reflection, worship and fellowship. Groups meet from September thru June, and students commit to one year at a time. Enrollment is in July and August.
